Average compressive strength —
Requirement at this age —
Conformity —

Minimum average strength required at a given age, as a % of the specified (28-day) grade strength: 3 days – 45%, 7 days – 60%, 14 days – 85%, 28 days – 100% (IS 456:2000, Amendment No. 5, Clause 11.3.1.1). Individual cube results are also expected to not fall more than 15% below the average (IS 516). This is a field guide, not a substitute for the statistical acceptance criteria of IS 456 Table 11 (which uses standard deviation across a full sample group).

4. Back-calculation

Typical achieved-strength range for this grade & age

Indicative band of compressive strengths commonly observed for a well-proportioned mix of this grade, at each age — useful as a sanity check while planning, not a code requirement.

Expected 3rd cube result / load for a target average

Given the first two cube results and the average strength you're targeting, solves for the 3rd cube's required strength and the load that would produce it.
